Gairmscoil Chú Uladh’s school community came together recently to celebrate a wide variety of school achievements over the school year.

Principal Ciarán Mac Ruaidhrí commended the spirit of initiative and attainment in the daily life of the school.

The students, parents and staff then listened to guest speaker, Charlene McGuire talk about her own journey as a former student of Gairmscoil Chú Uladh to her career as a quantity surveyor and successful business owner.  Looking back on her own school days, she said she was uncertain where her future lay after school.  She advised students to work hard at whatever they do and to give each task 100%, no matter how big or small.

“Once you become good at what you do, you become more confident”, she noted, “and you will then begin to see what opportunities lie ahead for you. Success will follow”.

Prizes were awarded for both academic and extracurricular achievements, culminating in the Student of the Year award which Charlene presented to Sixth Year student, Síle Ní Mhairtín.

Special thanks to Múinteoir Ó Mhorda who organised the event and good luck to all examination students.
