The funeral of Kerry sheep farmer, Michael Gaine, has taken place in Kenmare today.
The 56-year-old was laid to rest today two-and-a-half months after he disappeared from his farmyard – and just weeks after his remains were found there.
A large crowd gathered at the Holy Cross Church in Kenmare this morning to pay their respects.
He will be buried at a private location, as per his family’s wishes.
Gardaí are continuing their investgations into Mr Gaine’s murder, a day after the Garda Commissioner confirmed a review into the initial examination of the Gaine farmyard will take place.
Drew Harris confirmed the review to the media yesterday, which will also look into the initial investigation efforts in the Tina Satchwell case.
Gardaí have come under fire for their handling of the Gaine and Satchwell cases, where they failed to find the remains of both missing individuals during the initial stages of their investigations.
