Sinn Féin hosts United Ireland planning day in Letterkenny

Sinn Féin members met in Letterkenny on Saturday to advance the campaign for Irish unity.

The event was part of the party’s grassroots efforts to prepare for constitutional change and the building of a new and united Ireland.

Attendees took part in a day of workshops and political discussion focused on engaging communities across Donegal in the conversation around unity.

Guest speakers included Mayo TD, party Spokesperson on Enterprise, Tourism and Employment and member of the Oireachtas Committee on the Good Friday Agreement, Rose Conway-Walsh and the Westminster Election Candidate for Foyle and member of the North West Cross-Border Working Group, Cllr Sandra Duffy alonside Donegal Sinn Féin elected representatives and members.

“Feedback from the day will shape how Donegal Sinn Féin works towards Irish Unity in the future,” said a party statement.

“Sinn Féin continue to lead the call for the Irish Government to establish a Citizens’ Assembly on Unity and to begin detailed planning for constitutional change.

“Saturday’s event in Letterkenny was a further step in ensuring that communities in the North West are fully included and informed in that national conversation.

“Donegal Sinn Féin reiterated its commitment to a new and inclusive Ireland, built on equality, social justice, and opportunity for all.”
