A well-known Letterkenny Tidy Towns volunteer is set to have his many years of hard work honoured with a civic reception from the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District.
Charlie Grant, who is a long-time committee member and skilled landscape gardener, was nominated for the prestigious accolade by Councillor Tomás Seán Devine today.
Cllr Devine said: “Charlie has never been found wanting for making the town look its best, between housing estates, the town itself, Church Lane/schools, the list goes on. A nice civic reception would be a small gesture to recognise Charlie’s hard work along with his team of helpers.”
Cllr Devine acknowledged that Charlie, a modest man, was slightly reluctant to agree to his proposal, but eventually accepted it as a small gesture from the people of Letterkenny for his work.
Seconding the motion, Mayor of Letterkenny-Milford Gerry McMonagle commented that Charlie is a “well-deserving and modest man” who sees himself as part of a team of volunteers.
