Local Enterprise Office Donegal is hosting an online information session for its award-winning Ambition programme, a female accelerator focused on female entrepreneurs that promotes the skills and resilience needed to develop globally scalable ventures, attract investment and create jobs.

The Ambition Open Evening takes place online on Wednesday, 18th June at 10AM and is open to female founders and co-founders, entrepreneurs, or those with a strong start-up idea, who have links to Donegal. The closing date for applications to the Ambition programme is midnight on Monday, 30th June 2025, at 5PM.

“The Ambition programme was created to champion women in entrepreneurship across the county, helping them turn strong ideas into viable and thriving start-ups,” says Brenda Hegarty, Head of Enterprise at the Local Enterprise Office Donegal. “In recent years, the programme has achieved impressive outcomes, empowering many women to bring their business concepts to life and build successful enterprises.”

Adding to this, Brenda said: “We’re excited to find the next cohort of bright, ambitious female business leaders from Donegal. During the programme, up to twelve businesses will be chosen to participate; they will be selected based on criteria including the scale of ambition, the size of the problem to be solved, early market understanding, a clear competitive advantage, a feasible business model and the strength and diversity of the team. The participants will learn everything from problem framing, market sizing, presentation skills and more. We now want to build on the success of previous cohorts and are looking for smart new business ideas from women who live in Donegal, want to relocate to Donegal, or have family links or connections to the county.”

Grace Korbel, Assistant Head of Enterprise said: “The Ambition programme provides women with a clear pathway to start a globally focused business. It gives candidates the opportunity to develop their business ideas with one-to-one mentoring, and provides invaluable access to entrepreneurial role models, to learn from their experience. We’re looking forward to working with the next cohort of ambitious female founders in Donegal and would encourage anyone interested in finding out more about Ambition to register for the information session.”

The Ambition programme will be delivered over 12 workshops helping to develop the building blocks required for female entrepreneurs to succeed. Teams must be available to participate on all programme days as outlined. At the end of the programme showcase, a judging panel comprising leading entrepreneurs, executives, and investors will evaluate progress.
