Almost 200 projects across Donegal are to share a pot of €297,000 under this year’s Local Enhancement Programme (LEP).

Deputy Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher has welcomed the announcement which will benefit a wide range of community organisations, clubs, men’s sheds, youth centres, and parish halls across the county.

“These groups provide essential services and help strengthen community ties,” he said.

The Local Enhancement Programme 2025 supports community-based groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, by enabling them to:

  • Carry out essential repairs and improvements to facilities
  • Purchase equipment such as tables, chairs, tools, signage, laptops, printers, lawnmowers, canopies, and training materials
  • Improve accessibility for people with disabilities
  • Encourage community participation from disadvantaged or marginalised groups
  • Enhance energy efficiency to reduce ongoing costs

It is administered locally by the Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs) within each local authority.
