Organisers of the Relay for Life Event in McGinley’s Bar, Ballyshannon on Sat 28th June say they have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the business community who have donated a wide variety of prizes for the fundraising raffle which will be held on the night.
The night of music and giveaways will be in loving memory of popular local lady, Bernadette McIntyre, who passed away in May.
“Relay itself is like a countywide hug for those affected by cancer and generosity and community spirit is certainly a central theme to our evening,” said Paul McLoone one of the event organisers.
“This all kicked off due a great gesture by John and Moira McIntyre who received €300 from the sale of scrap metal and wished to donate it to charity. After a quick chat we decided to do something for Relay and on hearing this their wonderful sister Bernadette donated another €100 from her own pocket. Our whole community was shocked to the core following Bernadette’s sudden passing on the 10th May last and we, the Abbey Bay Residents (who are organising the event) wish to remember her fondly on the night.”
Barry Sweeney and Emer O’Shea donated two wonderful images of Rory Gallagher and ‘Dusk at Creevy’ whilst Gus Culkin donated a ‘Shaun Patton goalkeepers jersey (all pictured above).
On the night you could win sponsored prizes from the Clanree and Sandhouse Hotels, Shannons Corner and Whoriskeys restaurants, Murvagh Golf Club, Mai Kelly, Febvre wines, Mr. Gs, McGinley’s Bar and many more.
Proceedings in McGinley’s commence at 9.30pm and entrance is free on the night. Tickets for the raffle are available at the bar or by texting 087 2222834 and there is also an onine payment facility via Revolut.
All proceeds will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society.
