Pop-up ice rink proposed for Letterkenny

A temporary ice skating rink is set to come to Letterkenny later this year.

Organisers have sought permission to place the family fun facility on council lands on the Neil T. Blaney Road.

Councillors gave the go-ahead to the proposal at this month’s Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District meeting. The meeting heard that the group plans to be in situ for an extended period of time.

Letterkenny first hosted a temporary ice rink called “Christmas on Ice” back in the winter of 2008-2009.

In 2013, the Century Complex opened Donegal’s first permanent ice rink, “Century Ice”, though that has since closed its doors.
