It may be Rally Weekend, but Rathmullan Pier and seafront will be alive with music and craic on Saturday morning, 21st June.
The Swilly Sisters’ Shed has extended an open invitation for all ‘sisters’ anywhere along the Swilly to join with them for a unique musical extravaganza on Saturday morning at 7am, in a celebratory session of the Summer Solstice, the official beginning of Summer.
‘The Summer Solstice is traditionally a time of peak light, and celebrated as a symbol of abundance, growth and renewal and its connection to the cycles of Nature. It is an opportunity for us all to pause and align with the joyful spirit of the sun, and welcome summer blessings into our lives.’
This unique early morning musical extravaganza promises to be a morning of festive song, brightness and fun, under the musical direction of renowned singer songwriter Brí Carr. Come along and enjoy the ‘ceoil agus craic’ with members of the Wild Atlantic Women group, Letterkenny Panto group, Choirs and Sisters as they offer a heartening welcome to the summer, all with a maritime flavour.
Everyone (male and female) is invited to participate in an optional Sea Swim afterwards (around 8am) and to enjoy a BBQ Breakfast with Chef, Artur Assis. Thanks to Eunan Gormley, Butcher Ramelton who is sponsoring the Breakfast sizzlers, and to the Rathmullan Sailing Club for the use of their premises.
While is a free event, all donations on the day will be in aid of Lough Swilly Lifeboats, with a permit granted for the bucket collection all day Saturday.
( Rally Road closures will not affect the Rathmullan area until after midday)
