Kilcar Parish Council hosted an extremely important initial ‘First Responders’ meeting on Thursday evening.

The purpose of the event in the parish hall was to re-establish in the community a ‘First Responders Group’.

The meeting was well attended, including members of Comhairle Paróiste Chill Chartha, Mr John McShane, Community Engagement Officer HSE National Ambulance Service and Mrs Yvonne McGinley from the Glencolmcille First Responders.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Parish Council, Mr Martin Hegarty, followed by a presentation and talk by John McShane.

Yvonne McGinley then followed up with a talk and an overview of how the Glencolmcille First Responders group was set up, what was involved and a general overview of how the group functions.

A number of people expressed interest on the night of joining the new group. However, more participants were invited to join this extremely worthwhile and very important initiative in the parish of Kilcar.

Anyone interested should contact the Parish Council secretary, Mr Kevin Ferry, at this email address: kilcarsecretary@gmail.com or indeed any Parish Council member. Do please consider getting in touch or attending the next meeting, a venue and date to be confirmed in the next few weeks.
