Mark English continued his flying form to record his second fastest time of his career at the Diamond League Meet in Paris tonight.
The Finn Valley athlete battled his way to a sixth-place finish in the men’s 800m.
The French capital hosted its first major athletics event since last year’s Olympic Games and English clocked his second sub 1:44 of the month.
The Letetrkenny man, who became the first Irishman to break 1:44 in the 800m earlier this month, posted a time of 1:43.98 in a race won by Spain’s Mohamed Attaoui in 1:42.73.
This is the second time in a fortnight that English has lowered his Irish record.
It follows on from a European 800m bronze in March.
