Gardai block access to Downings beach to prevent unlicensed events

Gardai have blocked off access to Downings beach following plans to hold a number of unlicensed events there.

Gardai have placed barricades at a number of entrances to prevent cars from accessing the beach.

The move is part of a plan to prevent gatherings.

A Garda spokesperson said officers will continue to patrol the area.

“These events will not be taking place. Vehicles will not have access to the beach for the remainder of the weekend,” said the spokesperson.
