Bathers have been warned to take extra care after a potentially dangerous Lion’s Mane jellyfish was washed up at Portsalon last night.
Donegal Daily reader Ann Marie Ryan send the above picture of the jellyfish which was spotted washed up at about 8pm last night.
And with fine weather reported for the next three days at least, bathers have been warned to take extra care when in the water.
Several of the species have washed up on Donegal shores in recent years.
They are known for their large size and potential sting.
While not typically fatal, their stings can cause pain, redness, and in some cases, more severe reactions like nausea, sweating, and cramps.
