Cocktail of drugs leads to driver’s arrest in Inishowen

A driver who was caught under the influence of a mix of drugs was taken off the road yesterday.

The arrest was made on Monday morning after Gardaí stopped a vehicle in the Fahan area. The driver subsequently tested positive for cocaine, cannabis, and amphetamines. They were arrested at the scene.

Later in the day, after lunchtime, Gardaí observed a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner in the Bridgend area. The Buncrana Roads Policing Unit located the vehicle a short time later, parked up. It was then seized under Section 109(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1961. This legislation requires an application to a District Court Judge to have the vehicle returned.

Gardaí have asked the public to help keep roads safe by reporting any dangerous behaviour they witness: “Should you ever observe a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner, please try to get the registration number and report the incident to us immediately.”
