Gardaí are treating a fire at a house in Dunfanaghy last week as a possible arson attack.

They were alerted to a blaze in progress at a vacant house (under construction) in the area of Kill last Wednesday, shortly before 10pm.

Gardaí attended the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. The fire services also attended and ensured that the building was safe.

“It has not been ruled out that the fire may have been started maliciously,” Garda Grainne Doherty said.

“We are anxious to speak with anyone who may have travelled in that area (along the N56 in particular) with a dash-cam between 9pm and 10pm on that date.”

If anybody can assist with relevant information, they are urged to contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071 9858530. The Garda Confidential Line may be contacted on 1800 666 111.
