Donegal Women’s Centre says it is deeply grateful to Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce and its President, Jimmy Stafford, for selecting the Centre as the chosen charity at this year’s President’s Lunch.

The event resulted in a generous donation of €2,240 from the local business community.

As a registered charity, Donegal Women’s Centre provides a safe, welcoming and confidential space where women from all walks of life can access counselling, crisis support, health and wellbeing services, sexual health clinics, and personal development programmes.

This donation will enable five women to access free professional counselling, providing crucial support during periods of crisis, loss, trauma, or mental health difficulty. For many, it is a first step towards recovery and renewed strength.

Mary Herlihy, Manager of Donegal Women’s Centre, expressed her sincere thanks to the Chamber and its members.

She said “We are so thankful to Jimmy Stafford and the team at Letterkenny Chamber for their support and belief in the work we do.

“To receive this level of generosity from the business community means so much to us and more importantly, to the women who will now be able to access free counselling. It’s not just a donation, it’s a lifeline.”

Jimmy Stafford, President of Letterkenny Chamber, said the Donegal Women’s Centre is a vital service in our community, offering support when women need it most.

He added “We’re proud to support their work and we’re delighted that the funds raised at the President’s Lunch will directly help women in Donegal.

“The response from local businesses on the day was fantastic, and it shows just how our business community is so willing to give back to important causes in our community, like the services at the Donegal Women’s Centre.”

Donegal Women’s Centre continues to serve hundreds of women each year, providing essential services in a non judgemental, inclusive environment. Donations like this ensure that the Centre can continue its work, offering real help to those facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.
