Locals living close to one of Donegal’s most scenic areas are up in arms after a series of telegraph poles were erected in the area recently.
A total of seven poles have been erected along the roadside along the stunningly beautiful Glengesh Pass outside Ardara.
The area is visited by thousands of people each year and is regarded as one of Donegal’s most iconic views.
But now the recently added poles have broken the scenic skyline along the route.
Locals have made their feelings known and have contacted An Taisce.
It is understood work on the poles has ceased at present, according to locals.
One local said “Surely in this day and age underground cables can be installed in such an area.
“Here we have what is arguably one of Donegal’s if not Ireland’s most scenic areas and they go and stick seven huge telegraph poles in the middle of it.
“It defies logic and we’re hoping that as many people as possible object to this work.
“There must be an alternative that can work without ruining the natural beauty of this area.”
