The amount of compensation paid to motorists by Donegal County Council last year as a result of pothole damage has increased considerably.
However, Donegal had one of the lowest payout rates, despite being the county with the third-longest road network in the country.
According to Freedom of Information figures obtained by Newstalk, the council paid almost €7,900 last year. That figure is up considerably from the €5,300 paid out in 2023.
The figures show that people in Cork complain about potholes more than anywhere else.
However, the number of complaints received from the Donegal public in 2024 was down 52% to 522.
Nationally, nearly 50,000 complaints were made between 2022 and 2024.
