Job Vacancy: Tourism Officer sought for Árainn Mhór – Ailt an Chorráin Blueway

Comharchumann Oileán Árainn Mhór is seeking a Tourism Officer to take on duties on the island and surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will play a central role in promoting the Arranmore–Burtonport Blueway – a combination of  land and sea trails linking Árainn Mhór &  Burtonport. It is a beautiful route for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, and enjoying the scenic landscape and warm local welcome.

The Árainn Mhór Ailt an Chorráin Blueway is Ireland’s first certified coastal and island-based Blueway, accredited in 2023, offering walking, cycling, kayaking, sailing, and snorkelling. The snorkel trail is also the first accredited in Ireland

The successful candidate will be employed by Comharchumann Oileán Árainn Mhór and based in the offices of an Comharchumann.

This is a full-time post on a contract of up to 3 years.

Job Requirements:

  • Fluent Irish (spoken and written)
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with other organisations
  • Strong organisational, communication, marketing, and reporting skills
  • Understanding of social media and digital platforms as marketing tools
  • Experience in administration, event planning, and computer use
  • Ability to develop and deliver initiatives and proposals
  • Knowledge of the local tourism sector and of relevant projects, including the Blueway
  • Full driving licence and access to own vehicle

Main Duties:

  • Support the implementation and development of the Arranmore–Burtonport Blueway
  • Attend a tourism training course (organised by Údarás na Gaeltachta), which includes certification.
  • Collaborate with local and national tourism organisations
  • Develop marketing campaigns and produce promotional material
  • Facilitate community and tourism events
  • Support local tourism providers in developing and promoting packages and offers
  • Prepare regular reports for management

Salary:
€35,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

Tuarastal:
