A Donegal café has a quick-thinking stranger to thank for putting out a potentially serious fire.
The Narrow Quarter bistro in Kerrykeel is hoping to find their mystery hero after a tree outside the premises spontaneously combusted.
Thanks to a passer-by, the fire was quickly put out before it could spread to the cafe’s wooden signage.
Yesterday’s incident was described as “a bit of a freak occurrence” by the owners.
One of their small outdoor trees began smoking and then caught fire, but the the smoke was noticed quickly by a “sound lad” who rushed to drag it away from the facade.
The man dragged the burning tree to the side of the cafe and alerted a staff member so he could get water to put it out.
“Thankfully it was caught quickly before any damage was done, especially as our signage is wooden and could’ve gone up too,” said The Narrow Quarter.
The Narrow Quarter is now appealing to the public for help in identifying the man. They’ve asked anyone who knows the individual to tag him or pass on his details, as they wish to offer him “something small to say thanks.”
