The search for a fast-acting stranger who halted a potentially serious fire at The Narrow Quarter in Kerrykeel has been solved.
Last Thursday, a tree outside the cafe spontaneously combusted in the dry summer heat.
An unknown man came on the scene and quickly dragged the tree away from the cafe’s wooden front.
He took the tree all the way to the side of the cafe and went inside for water to put the fire out.
Since the incident was recorded on CCTV, the owners of The Narrow Quarter, Aidan Friel and John McDaid, tapped into the power of social media to try and identify the “sound lad” to thank him.
They appealed to the public to help identify him, expressing their wish to offer him “something small to say thanks” for his actions.
Just a day later, they announced: “We have managed to get in touch with the man in the video! Thank you all for sharing, one good deed deserves another.”
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
