There was plenty of drama in Annagry yesterday as Duffy’s Bar welcomed actor Patrick Duffy, who played Bobby Ewing in Dallas, and his partner Linda Purl, who starred in Happy Days!

The famous couple were in town filming for a new documentary that sees them touring Ireland to visit some of the country’s best rural pubs.

Duffy’s Bar was an extra special stop for Patrick, as he also enjoys exploring his Irish roots. His grandfather had emigrated from Ireland to the United States in the 1920s. Duffy has actively explored his Irish ancestry in recent years and previously visited Mayo on the search for his roots.

Patrick and Linda received a very warm Donegal welcome yesterday with plenty of music and craic, and even a performance from Donegal’s own Texas Ollie!

Patrick Duffy became a household name in the late 1970s and 1980s for his portrayal of Bobby Ewing in the hugely popular American soap opera, Dallas. Meanwhile, Linda Purl is most recognised from the US sitcom Happy Days, where she played Ashley Pfister, Fonzie’s girlfriend.
