The lavish funeral took place in Letterkenny today of popular local Traveller, Martina Connors.
Late of Neil T Blaney Road, she passed away peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital on Thursday.
Many of Mrs Connors’ family and a large number of extended family gathered at St Eunan’s Cathedral for this morning’s Requiem Mass.
The entrance to the church was decorated in an abundance of flowers.
Pictures of Mrs Connors reflecting her happy life and times with family was shown on a large screen outside the cathedral.
Many of those who attended the funeral mass wore white t-shirts with pictures of Mrs Connors on it as a respect to the much-loved woman.
Predeceased by husband Mickey as well as three sons and one daughter. She is survived by sons Danny, Michael, Austin, Tommy, Miley, Charlie, John and Jimmy, and daughters Pearl, Margaret, Nellie, Tina and Annie.
She is also survived by her sisters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, all extended family members and friends.
Following mass, her remains were carried in a gold-coloured coffin on a glass-sided carriage which was drawn by six white horses through the streets of the town.
Scores of mourners lined the streets as the cortege, which included a white stretch limo and a number of luxury cars, made its way to Leck Cemetery for burial.
