There are currently just over 6,500 Ukrainian nationals living across Donegal, according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Almost half of those, 2,573, have been placed in the south and south west of the county according to the number of Personal Public Service Numbers  (PPS) numbers still active as of June 3.

A breakdown of the figures by Local Electoral Area (LEA) is as follows: Carndonagh (864); Buncrana (536); Milford (566), Letterkenny (1,296), Lifford-Stranorlar (667), Glenties (1,169) and Donegal (1,404). The figure for the Donegal LEA represents 5.3% of the population there.

Nationally, there have been 113,917 arrivals from Ukraine in Ireland over the last three years. Of these, 80,031 had active PPSns. Back in February, a total of 8,200 Ukrainians were recorded as living in Donegal.

Previous iterations of the ‘Arrivals from Ukraine in Ireland’ focused on the cumulative total of Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection.

The latest data was compiled by analysing the number of PPSNs given to arrivals from Ukraine under the Temporary Protection Directive, and that were still active, as of 03 June, 2025.
