Dermot Donohue remembered as Letterkenny festival kicks off with special fundraiser

Letterkenny photographer and musician Dermot Donohue will be in the hearts and minds of many as the Letterkenny Blues and Roots Festival takes place this weekend.

The festival opened at the Radisson Blu Hotel last night with a celebration of Dermot, who sadly passed in January 2023 from motor neurone disease.

Funds raised at the gig will go towards the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and donations can still be made online (click here).

The music and the memories flowed as Dermot’s bandmates of The Delta Boys were joined by talented friends, including The Johnny Max Band from Canada.

Dermot was not only a gifted blues musician and award-winning photographer — he was also a founding member of the Letterkenny Blues & Roots Festival. A true character and a loyal friend, his absence is still deeply felt in Letterkenny and beyond.
