Exciting times as Mount Errigal Hotel begins second phase of major renovation

It’s an exciting chapter for one of Donegal’s best-known hotels as The Mount Errigal moves into the second phase of its major renovation and investment project, which promises to redefine the guest experience.

The landmark Letterkenny property, known for its warm hospitality and long-standing reputation as a hub for weddings, conferences, and family getaways, has been undergoing a substantial transformation — with a focus on modern comfort, style, and enhancing its already outstanding facilities.

The multi-million euro investment has seen extensive work across key areas of the hotel, including a complete refurbishment of the hotel lobby, creating a contemporary and welcoming arrival experience for guests. In addition, a brand-new pre-wedding bar and gathering space is being introduced — perfect for couples and their guests to start the celebrations in style.

A brand-new, state-of-the-art restaurant is also set to open, bringing an elevated dining experience to both residents and visitors.

The new space has been designed by O’Donnell O’Neill, one of Ireland’s leading interior design studios, renowned for creating some of the country’s most stylish and iconic hospitality spaces. The result will combine striking modern design with the finest local ingredients, offering guests the very best of Donegal hospitality in a fresh, vibrant setting.

The second phase of works also includes the refurbishment of the hotel’s second function room, building on the success of the first function room renovation completed just two years ago. With both spaces upgraded to the highest standard, the Mount Errigal continues to cement its reputation as one of the Northwest’s premier venues for weddings, conferences, and special events.

“We’re incredibly proud of what’s being achieved,” said Conor McEniff. “This investment is about more than just updating the look of the hotel — it’s about elevating every aspect of the guest experience, from arrival to dining to events”.

Further details of the renovations will be shared over the coming months, with the hotel promising exciting updates as each stage progresses.

For now, guests can expect that the Mount Errigal’s signature hospitality will continue but with a fresh, modern twist that reflects the hotel’s ongoing commitment to excellence.
