The Abbey Bay residents in Ballyshannon have announced that their fundraiser in aid of Relay for Life Donegal has reached the magical figure of ten thousand euros.
The final figure was boosted by late donations and a generous top up from McGinley’s Bar.
The evening on saturday 28th June was organised by Paul McLoone, Mary Doogan, John and Moira McIntyre in memory of John’s sister Bernadette who sadly passed away on the 10th May last.
The McIntyre family have stated that Bernadette would have been over the moon with the efforts of her neighbours and friends.
John said: “She just loved Ballyshannon and the Abbey Bay area in particular. Nothing gave her more joy than being out in the boat in the Abbey Bay or exploring the flora and fauna that peppers the coastline near where she lived.
“Kindness was in her DNA and her weekends were never complete without a bit of music and craic in McGinley’s Bar so last Saturday night would have been perfection for Bernadette.”
‘Thank you so much, Ballyshannon for remembering our sister so fondly. We loved her dearly, miss her terribly and no words can describe the comfort and solace that the McIntyre family have received from the whole community since Bernadette’s passing.”
