The public are being advised of a number of traffic delays and restrictions in place later today in Letterkenny, ahead of the annual Conwal Graveyard remembrance service.

Diversions via Newmills Bridge, Rockhill Road, Bomany and Oldtown and vice versa are available for through traffic, and will in place ahead of and during the event, which starts at 4pm.

Gardaí say that parking will be available in the field directly opposite the graveyard and priority will be given to vehicles exiting this parking space at the conclusion of the service.

Parking will also be made available at O’Donnell Park GAA grounds and Gardaí are requesting that all able bodied persons who are attending park there and then walk to the graveyard.

Meanwhile the graveyard carpark and spaces on the Main Road along the wall outside will be reserved for disabled and car-bound elderly attendees. Those wishing to avail of this parking are advised to come early.

Gardaí have also asked all to attending to comply with the ‘No Parking’ cones and to avoid parking on the footpath approach to the graveyard to allow for pedestrian access, and to keep gateways clear in case of emergency vehicles having to access the site.

They have also reminded the public to ensure that all items of value are left at home or secured within your car boot, and that items such as handbags and phones should not be left on seats in clear view.
