A Donegal mother has honoured what would have been her son’s 30th birthday with a Teddy Bear Picnic for families to enjoy a day out while learning about meningitis awareness.

The family-fun day took place on Saturday, 5th July, at Letterkenny Town Park.

The event was organised by Naomi Fisher, a Donegal ambassador for ACT for Meningitis.

Naomi sadly lost her beautiful son, Reece, to meningitis when he was just seven and a half months old. Reece is loved and missed every day, and in his memory, Naomi has done trojan work over the years to ensure maximum awareness of the signs and symptoms of meningitis for all parents.

Naomi’s fundraisers have raised incredible support and awareness for ACT for Meningitis, a charity dedicated to educating society about the signs and symptoms of meningitis. The charity also offers free support services in Ireland to those affected by the disease.

Representatives from ACT for Meningitis were present on Saturday, providing invaluable talks and advice to attendees.

Families enjoyed a delightful day filled with face painting, storytelling, dancing, treats, and plenty of fun for all.

More than €2,000 has been donated online in memory of Reece’s milestone birthday, with more donations made on the day. If you wish to support, please visit: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/RememberReece
