Gardaí from Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit are out on the roads today conducting multi agency checkpoints alongside the Road Safety Authority.
Officers are mainly inspecting heavy goods vehicles for defects.
However, during the inspections, a number of motorists were also stopped.
One car was seized as it had no insurance.
The driver of another car was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and later tested positive for cocaine.
A Garda spokesperson warned “Do not take any type of risk where road safety is concerned…..ever.”
