A Commission of Investigation into allegations of historical sexual abuse in schools across the country is to be established by the Government.
Education Minister Helen McEntee has confirmed that work is also underway to create a redress scheme for victims.
The minister said she is aware that the issue of redress is important to victims and is a “measure of accountability for the awful crimes they endured.”
A scoping inquiry found more than 2,000 allegations of abuse at over 300 schools.
