Gardaí have issued another appeal for information following a collision in Carndonagh which took the lives of a young mother and her daughter last week.

Local nurse Natalie McLaughlin, 27, and her daughter Ella, 6, (pictured above) were laid to rest yesterday following an emotional funeral.

Young Ella died at the scene of the two-vehicle collision on the Glentogher Road, just outside Carndonagh on 2nd July. The following day, her mother Natalie passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Only two of the car’s occupants survived. Natalie’s partner Tyrone Irwin has been treated at Altnagelvin Hospital and their daughter, little Rhea-Rose, who is 18 months old continues to be treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

In a community notice today, Garda Niall Maguire appealed for any information relating to the collision that may help with the investigation and help families get closure.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the road traffic collision involving a car and a van on the R240 at Carrowmore shortly before 6.30pm on 2nd July.

No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday 2nd July, 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station at 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
