Three nurses at Letterkenny University Hospital have been honoured for their exceptional commitment to their role and their positive impact on student learning and development.
Marie Anne McDaid CNM2 Theatre, Nollaig Simms Staff Nurse Medical 5 and Catherine McLaughlin Staff Nurse Emergency Department each received awards at the Letterkenny University Hospital Preceptorship Awards Ceremony.
The event saw a total of 21 Preceptors nominated for the awards, representing a wide range of clinical disciplines, including Medical, Surgical, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Emergency Department, Theatre, Day Services, Community Hospital, and Public Health Nursing.

Preceptor awards, in collaboration with the Nurse Practice Development Unit, celebrate the dedication and professionalism of hospital based and community-based preceptors who have made outstanding contributions to the education of BSc (Hons) Undergraduate Nursing Students from Atlantic Technological University during their clinical placements.
Dr Orla Noonan, Director of Nursing at LUH said, “Our preceptors play a vital role in shaping the next generation of nurses. Their dedication, empathy, and willingness to share their expertise are at the heart of our healthcare system. Today’s ceremony is a well-deserved celebration of their incredible contributions.”
