It was a big weekend for Donegal competitors at the National Community Games Finals in Kilkenny, with events in swimming, quizzes, and gymnastics taking place at the Watershed Centre.

There was a large number of Donegal supporters present to cheer on the young athletes.

Saturday began with the quiz competition, featuring teams from Milford and Ballyshannon. Ballyshannon secured 124 points, while Milford achieved 117 points, narrowly missing out on a medal as the winning score was 130 points.

Saturday also saw swimmers from Ballyshannon and Bundoran compete, but unfortunately, they too just missed out on medals.

Sunday’s events included gymnastics, with Ballyshannon, Bundoran, and Milford all delivering great performances.

Caoimhe Loughlin from Ballyshannon got bronze in swimming u10 backstroke.

The day concluded with the boys’ swimming events, which again showcased excellent performances all around.

The final swimming race of the day was the Under 10 boys’ event, featuring Jack Condron from Rathmullan and Mason Mullhern from Bundoran. Both boys swam exceptionally well, just missing out on the final by the smallest of margins.

Donegal Manager Tony McCarry said he was delighted with the performances of all the competitors who did their county proud. He also extended his thanks to all the Donegal supporters who made the long journey to Kilkenny.
