Donegal County Council has been urged to ask Coillte to clear storm-damaged trees in Drumboe Woods in Stranorlar in order for full access to be restored.
The plea comes after Storm Eowyn in January left some paths blocked in the upper part of the woods.
Councillor Martin Harley, Cathaoirleach of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District, said that the public is calling out for the paths to be fully restored.
“We are heading on five months now, can something be done to get the trees cut off the pathway to get people back to enjoy the great amenity that we have?” Cllr Harley asked the council at today’s meeting of the Lifford-Stranorlar MD.
Councillor Harley also sought an update on the reopening of a walkway through Drumboe Woods that leads to Finn Valley College.
The pathway has been closed for the past 14 years.
In response, Cllr Harley was informed that a senior engineer has requested a meeting with the Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) and the contractor in relation to the pathway.
Finn Valley College is preparing for an extension which will add three new classrooms to provide a special class for children with special needs, two special education rooms for one-to-one teaching or group working and three general classrooms.
