Letterkenny AC member Erin Friel has been selected as one of 35 Team Ireland athletes to compete at this year’s European Youth Olympic Festival.
The competition takes place in Skopje, North Macedonia from July 20-27th.
The 17-year-old Loreto Letterkenny student will compete in the 400m and Medley Relay.
Finn Valley’s Dermot McGranaghan will attend as an athletics coach.
Michael Black of Letterkenny AC is the team leader for the cycling squad.
The EYOF is a prestigious event that plays an important role in the overall development of athletes, as it mimics the Olympic Games model, preparing athletes for the nuances of performing in a multi-sport environment. This year’s event will see forty-eight countries across Europe participate in the event, with over 4,000 athletes competing.
