Letterkenny Rovers FC will be honoured with a civic reception in September following their record season.

The senior side, managed by Stephen McConnell, won a domestic treble without losing a game.

That was made up of their clinching of the Donegal League Premier Division title, victory in the Ulster Junior Cup when they defeated Kildrum Tigers 1-0 in the final before claiming the Brian McCormick Sports Cup with an extra-time 2-1 win over Castlefin Celtic, having come out on top in the Letterkenny Area to reach the last four.

McConnell won the Sunday Manager of the Year award for the second season running, while Chris Malseed was named Player of the Year, and BJ Banda grabbed the top scorer award in the Premier Division.

Their development team won the Saturday Division 2, with Adam Murphy Player of the Year and the top goalscorer award going to Jordan Nugent.

The Leckview Park-based club have developed their home ground and also enjoyed success at underage level, as well as having a growing number of participants attending their academy.

The North West 10k committee will also be afforded a civic reception, as this year they passed the €1,000,000-mark in terms of their total fundraising, 28 years on from the first ever staging of the event.

Cathaoirleach of Letterkenny-Milford MD, Cllr Ciaran Brogan, suggested civic receptions for Letterkenny Rovers and the North West 10k and praised both for their successes during the year.
