Donegal 2-15 v 1-12 Leitrim
Donegal’s Ladies footballers have retained their Senior Championship status after defeating Leitrim this afternoon.
A strong first half propelled Donegal to victory in Tubercurry, as they hit the back of the net twice.
Suzanne White got Donegal’s first goal inside the first 10 minutes of the game.
Despite Leitrim managing a goal of their own, Jodie McFadden’s 25th minute goal helped to cement a five-point lead for Donegal at the break – 2-07 to 1-05.

Donegal would stretch their legs at the beginning of the second half and at one point would hold an eleven-point advantage as the final quarter of the contest loomed.
However a string of successive scores from Leitrim would shrink Donegal’s advantage back to five points, before a penalty was awarded to Leitrim inside the final five minutes.
A fine penalty save from Donegal keeper Clare Friel would put a halt on Leitrim’s momentum though, and with a few additional scores in the last moments of the game Donegal confirmed their senior status for next year’s All-Ireland Championship.
