A major water outage could see parts of west Donegal without water for the rest of today.
It’s understood that due to a combination of high water demand as well as burst water mains that many people are without water in the Dunfanaghy, Falcarragh and Gortahork areas.
Uisce Eireann have described the outage as “a reservoir interruption” and have not yet provided a time for repairs to be completed – however crews are currently working to restore supply to the network.
Local Councillor Michael McClafferty has expressed frustration with Uisce Eireann’s handling of the situation, and their refusal to provide a water tanker for affected residents.
“They refuse to send tankers due to bad roads and (that) water must be out for 12 hours before any action (can) be taken. This is the problem once things go private.”
