A man aged in his 60s who was arrested yesterday in Derry in relation to a brutal assault on Lifford man Charles Dooher has been bailed.

The man, who was arrested on suspicion of committing attempted murder yesterday evening, was released on bail this morning following questioning.

Police say that the man was released “to allow for further enquiries.”

That arrest was the second made this week in relation to the horrific attack on 26-year-old Charles and his father, Charles Snr, at their home on January the 20th.

Charles suffered life-changing injuries as a result of the attack with the well-liked farmer and GAA player being left in a serious condition and requiring several operations in the months following the attack.

A woman aged in her 50s was also arrested by Gardaí earlier this week in relation to the attack.

She was questioned at a Garda station in West Donegal and released on Thursday, with a file on the arrest to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to the public for any information or witnesses related to the incident.

Those with camera footage, including dash-cam footage, from the Coneyburrow Road in Lifford between 10am and 11am on January 20, are urged to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

They are particularly anxious to speak to any persons who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) of a silver/grey Peugeot 3008 (2009-2013 model) in the Coneyburrow Road area of Lifford between 10am and 11am on January 20, to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is requested to contact Letterkenny Garda Station at 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
