Another Donegal lifeboat station has seen its lifeboat slipway blocked by illegally parked cars.
The Mulroy Coast Guard took to social media today to again warn the public against parking in the yellow box areas outside lifeboat station, after two cars had blocked emergency access to the slipway by doing so.
That warning comes just two days after a similar incident in Bundoran, where four vehicles were illegally blocking the lifeboat slipway by parking on a yellow box.
Warnings have also been issued in recent months by the Lough Swilly RNLI, after their slipway was also blocked by two parked cars.
After today’s incident the Mulroy Coast Guard have insisted that the public must respect the yellow box areas around lifeboat station, as keeping those spaces clear is vital for their life-saving response if required.
“We love seeing everyone making the most of the sunshine at the pier and beach, but we need your help to keep things safe for everyone,” they said.
“Please don’t park in or block the yellow box on the slipway. That space is vital for us to launch our boat in an emergency. When lives are on the line, every second counts.”
“During busy days, it can be easy to overlook, but our volunteers depend on clear, instant access to respond quickly. The yellow box isn’t just paint – it’s a lifesaving zone.
“The signs and markings are there for a reason: to save lives.”
