Donegal Deputy Charles Ward and the 100% Redress Party have announced Galway TD Catherine Connolly as their nomination for the upcoming Presidential race.

Deputy Connolly, an Independent, is expected to officially announce her candidacy next week.

She has already received a nomination from the Social Democrats, with the 100% Redress Party now also nominating the Galway progressive politican.

Connolly requires the backing of 20 members of the Oireachtas to get on the Presidential election ballot paper.,

In announcing the 100% Redress Party’s nomination, Donegal TD Charles Ward described Connolly as “a tireless advocate for social justice.”

“I am delighted to nominate Catherine to be the next President of Ireland,” Deputy Ward said in a statement.

“I believe that she is the only candidate with a true independent voice for Ireland. I believe that what we have at the moment is two Houses of the Oireachtas controlled by Government parties and there needs to be an independent voice, somebody that people can get behind and I truly believe that that is Catherine.”

The Donegal Deputy continued: “I believe she has the integrity, the class and the grace to take the office and take us on to the next level.”
