No injury concern for Michael Murphy ahead of All-Ireland Final – McGuinness

Donegal Manager Jim McGuinness has quashed any injury concerns about Michael Murphy in the wake of his side’s demolition of Meath in the All-Ireland Semi-Final.

Murphy was subbed off early in the second half, raising some concern that the Donegal Captain may have picked up a knock.

However Jim McGuinness says that there are no injury concerns for Murphy going forward.

“No, no, he is good. (It was a) tiny wee bang, one of those things.”

That is only good news for a Donegal side that will face Kerry in the All-Ireland Final in just two weeks’ time, talismanic Captain in-tow.

McGuinness also lauded the strength and depth of his squad in getting over the line this time around – after defeat to Galway at the same stage last year.

“The strength of the group at the minute is the squad. They’re working really hard.”

“There is good competition for places and we’ll be back to ground zero now in terms of that on Tuesday night and everyone will be putting their best foot forward. That is what you want and the lads have been brilliant in that regard.”

“It was a long road back (to this point), a hell of a long road back, but we’re delighted to get over the line and obviously go one step further than last year.”

“The number one thing on the list is depth. We didn’t know at that stage about the rule changes that were coming down the line and the physical demands of the rules, but certainly we knew that we needed people to come in and give us more depth.”

“We knew that we needed to be stronger and it would built its own energy in the group because people will be competitive and want to play.”

“We saw that today because we were able to make those changes through the game.”
