Job Vacancy: Magee 1866 hiring part-time Accounts Payable Assistant (Maternity Leave Cover)

Magee 1866 in Donegal Town is hiring a part-time, temporary Accounts Payable Assistant to cover maternity leave at their New Row location.

Magee is a fifth-generation Irish family business based in Donegal Town with over 150 years’ experience designing, weaving and tailoring luxury fabrics and high-quality garments.  Company activities include manufacturing, wholesale, retail and e-commerce, offering lifestyle collections through our stores in Donegal and Dublin, many independent retailers and our website – www.magee1866.com.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, we wish to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Assistant.

Responsibilities include:-

  • Posting invoices on the system and securing authorisation for payment from the correct source.
  • Preparation and processing of supplier payment runs ensuring that payments are made within credit terms.
  • Follow-up any discrepancies and conclude accurately and timely.
  • Monthly reconciliations and month-end preparation including Accounts Payable, Bank Statements and Credit Card Statements.
  • Daily cashflow management.
  • Other tasks as required to assist the Finance Team.

Requirements:-

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy environment, with a good understanding of Accounts Payable procedures.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Sage and Excel and ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A good team player, also capable of working on their own initiative.
  • Excellent communications skills – verbal and written.
  • Whilst an Accounting Technician qualification would be an advantage, it is not essential.

This is a temporary Maternity Leave cover for a minimum period of one year with an anticipated start date during September. 25.5 hours per week which can be worked either five half-days per or three full days. The role is based in Donegal Town.
