Fianna Fail have reportedly ‘sounded out’ Donegal goalkeeping legend Packie Bonner to see if he is interested in running for President.

The big Keadue man is a household name across the country and keeps a high-profile.

Reports today suggest the former Celtic and Republic of Ireland star is a favourite amongst some elements in Fianna Fail.

The 65 year old said previously that he would not be interested in mainstream politics.

However, Fianna Fail sources say he would be the perfect ambassador around the world for Ireland.

The Italia ’90 hero is a regular visitor to his native Donegal.
