July 16, 2025

A Ramelton woman has pleaded guilty in connection with an incident in Ballybofey during which a man received stab wounds.

Nadia Blake tendered guilty pleas to charges of robbery and producing a screwdriver during a dispute when she was formally arraigned at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

The 26-year-old of Booragh, Ramelton, spoke only to plead guilty when she appeared before Judge Roderick Maguire.

The charges are in relation to an incident at Navenny Street, Ballybofey, on October 16, 2024.

She is charged with robbery, contrary to Section 14 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001, in that she did rob Stephen Doherty of a 50 inch television, a Playstation 4 console and controller and a portable speaker.

Blake also pleaded guilty to a charge of producing a screwdriver, an article capable of inflicting serious injury during the course of a dispute. The charge is contrary to section 1 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act, 1990.

Ms Fiona Crawford BL, barrister for the State, said that the pleas were made on a full facts basis.

Mr Simon Gillespie BL, barrister for Blake, instructed by solicitor Mr Rory O’Brien, said his client was a 26-year-old with no previous convictions. He said that Blake has “some ongoing issues” and said that a probation report and a psychiatric report would be of benefit in the case.

Judge Maguire directed the preparation of a probation report and legal aid was extended to cover a psychiatric assessment.

The case was adjourned to October for sentencing.
