The Ballintra to Cashelard annual Charity Motorbike Run will rev into its 15th year this August Bank Holiday weekend for more good causes.
The event, which has raised well over €100k for a variety of charities, will this year raise funds for STOP and Sarcoidosis Awareness.
The run kicks off on Saturday, 2nd August 2025. Riders are invited to register from 10:30 am at the Ballintra Community Centre, with a registration fee of €20 per rider. Kickstands will be up promptly at 12 pm sharp, as a convoy of motorbikes sets off on a scenic route through County Donegal.
The route wraps up at Whoriskey’s Cashelard around 5:30/6pm for a BBQ and a night of Rock ’n’ Roll.
The Charity Motorbike Run has a rich history, established 15 years ago out of a desire to support a group of local volunteers travelling to Africa. For its first seven years, proceeds from the run enabled this team to journey annually to countries like Uganda and Niger. There, they assisted with construction and building projects, including schools and hospitals, and delivered much-needed supplies and materials.
Due to its growing popularity, the organisers decided to continue the Motorbike Run beyond its initial mission, redirecting its focus to support other local organisations and families in need. Over its impressive 15-year history, the event has raised well over €100,000 for a diverse range of charities and local causes.
The success of this popular charity event is down to the dedication of its main organisers, Mark Mahon, Wayne McGrath, and Nigel Morrow.
