A dangerous driver was taken off the road yesterday after they tried to evade gardaí.
The incident took place last night in the Buncrana region, where gardaí first observed a car being driven in a dangerous manner.
The driver failed to stop when signalled to do so.
When gardaí eventually stopped the car, and it transpired that it was not taxed or insured.
An arrest was made and the car was seized under Section 109(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1961. Under this legislation, in order to get your vehicle back, you must apply to the Judge of the District Court.
Court proceedings will follow.
Gardaí took to Facebook to share details of the incident and said: “We are enforcing a ZERO tolerance policy in relation to the dangerous use of ANY type of vehicle on the roads.
“We are also enforcing a ZERO tolerance policy in relation to the use of uninsured vehicles on the roads.
“Never take unnecessary and dangerous risks where road safety is concerned.”
