Mr Bonner, a native of Donegal Street, Ballybofey, was a true gentleman, a family man and a friend to all.
He was the founder of Charles Bonner and Sons and The Stove Store, suppliers of heating and plumbing systems for over half a century.
Born 28th August 1942, Charlie grew up learning the value of hard work, beginning work as a welder in The Forge with his father.
Late of Donegal Road, he was predeceased by his father Joe, mother Annie and daughter Geraldine. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary, daughter and sons, Kathleen, Francis, Joe, Charles, Breda, Tommy, Donal and Dermot.
“From humble beginnings, Charlie built his life and business with his own hands, brick by brick, flame by flame, founding Charles Bonner and Sons and The Stove Store,” said a tribute from the family business.
“Charlie was the heartbeat of this place. He was always a welcoming figure in the store throughout the years, engaging with each customer he met. He was a character with a great sense of humour and a story or two at hand for all occasions!!
“As a boss, Charlie led with kindness, humility and a generous spirit. He treated us like family, and his memory will live on in the warmth and loyalty of the team he built.
“Most importantly, Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbour and friend. Charlie Bonner was a true original whose legacy will burn brightly in the lives of everyone who knew him.
“Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís.”
