Memorial fundraisers raise amazing €1,485 for Brain Tumour Ireland

Tory Island and Falcarragh came together on Saturday last for a special fundraising day in aid of Brain Tumour Ireland.

The event, organised by the Doohan family, was held in conjunction with the annual ‘Markies Match’, a tribute to Mark Doohan, who sadly passed away in 2008 at the age of 24.

Collections took place in memory of Mark and also local lady Maureen Gallagher who, like Mark, sadly passed away as a result of a brain tumour.

An impressive €1,485 was raised on Saturday with all proceeds going directly to Brain Tumour Ireland. The charity funds research into brain tumours and provides essential counselling services for affected families.

Pictured above are this year’s ‘Markies Match’ winners with the trophy and a photograph of Mark.
